The Soap Bubble is a very faint planetary nebula. It is dead-centre in this photo, (almost) visible as a slightly lighter ring against the background nebulosity. Although it is close to the Crescent Nebula (NGC6888) and has therefore been photographed countless times, it was only discovered in 2007, due to its faintness. |
